The July - September quarter of 2004 was another great one for FCS.  We had 118 total participants, which beat last year by one and was our third best for this quarter ever and our best since 1997!  It also blew away what was our average for this quarter (69).  We also had six events for this quarter, which was tied for the third most that we have had for this quarter.  In addition we have had 11 men join the Club for this quarter.

We had five e-mail votes/polls during the third quarter of 2004.

On 8/3/04, via an e-mail poll concerning the date of the 8/04 meeting, the members were unanimous (11 to 0) to move the Club Meeting to 8/12/04 (due to the fact that Derrich and I could not attend the meeting on 8/5/04, as it was originally scheduled).

On 9/4/04, via an e-mail vote concerning the date of the 2004 Duck/Goose Hunt, the members voted unanimously (3 to 0) for 11/13/04.

On 9/6/04, via an e-mail vote, the Club Officers voted unanimously (5 to 0) to spend $22.00 more than was budgeted for the T-shirt/cap membership benefits.  This vote proved to be unnecessary as we actually spent $9.41 less than was budgeted.  As per our bylaws this did not have to be presented to the entire membership as the expenditure was less than $50.00.

On 9/23/04, via an e-mail vote, the Club Officers voted unanimously (3 to 0) to reduce the prices on our remaining old T-shirts and patches and to purchase the following office supplies: display board and envelopes.  As per our bylaws this did not have to be presented to the entire membership as the expenditure was less than $50.00.

On 9/27/04, via an e-mail vote, the Club Officers voted unanimously (3 to 0) to add $30.00 to the budget for miscellaneous office supplies for the remainder of FY2005.  As per our bylaws this did not have to be presented to the entire membership as the expenditure was less than $50.00.

We had a shrimp boil at the 8/12/04 Club Meeting at my home using our new FCS Cooker.  We also used it twice on the 9/23/04 - 9/26/04 Fall Dove Retreat to help cook our monster breakfasts.  We will next use it during the 12/2/04 Club Meeting at my home to deep fry a turkey.

We only have three 2004 T-shirts left in size 2X, one in XL, and one in Large.  We distributed 14 of these shirts as membership benefits in September and sold five more at the 9/23/04 - 9/26/04 Fall Dove Retreat.  To say that they were a hit is an understatement.  We also distributed 12 of the 2004 caps as membership benefits in September and sold one more at the Dove Retreat.  See the Apparel page for current inventories.

There is a possibility that I will organize another hog hunt around 12/29/04.  My son, Ryan, will be deployed to Iraq on around 1/5/05 so this will be our last chance to hunt together for at least a year.  Kelvin Cheung will also be flying in from his Army base in Kentucky and will hunt with us.  If we can pull this off we’ll either hunt with Jimmy Cohenour near Blessing or Terry Haun near Victoria and Goliad.  Jimmy charges $125 plus $1/pound for every pound above 100.  Terry charges $100/hunter/day (he went up $25/day).  If you’re interested in this hunt please let me know.

It's time to start thinking about our 2005 Calendar.  Over the next few weeks I will start to put a proposal together.  Three things that I am thinking about are a bay fishing trip for redfish and speckled trout, a fishing trip for white bass, and an archery only hog hunt again.  Of course I covet your ideas.

One of the realities for late 2004 and 2005 for me is, due to the fact that I now have a child in college, I will be able to afford less of our big dollar trips.  I will, therefore, be looking for more volunteers to lead outings in my absence.

I hope to see you at an FCS event soon.

Serving the Lord and you,
