10/1/06

The July – September quarter of 2006 was another great one for FCS!  We had 144 total participants, which was our best yet for this or any other quarter.  We would have had at least five more participants this quarter if we had not had to cancel the 9/21/06 - 9/23/06 Dove Hunt (south zone - Dilley) due to a lack of birds.  It blew away what was our average for this quarter (76).  We had a record 15 events for this quarter (our old record, set in 2005, was 13).  We also had a record nine dove hunts (our old record, set in 2005, was six).  We set a record attendance for our first non-chartered Bay Fishing Trip (7/21/06 - 7/23/06).  In addition we had three men join the Club during this quarter.

We just broke the 4000 mark in total attendance and now have over 7000 hits on our Website!

We had four officer votes, two active Club member votes, and one officer poll during the third quarter of 2006.  For details see Votes and Polls (during the third quarter of 2006).

The next quarter promises to be an exciting one for FCS members and guests.  We have 19 events planned.  We’ll have meetings on 10/5/06 and 12/14/06; dove hunts on every weekend in October in Buda and Woodson (nine hunts), Sporting Clays and Skeet Shoots on 10/21/06, 11/18/06, and 12/9/06, a Beyond the Basics: Pistol Class on 10/14/06, a Day Lease Deer Hunt on 11/3/06 - 11/5/06, a Guided Waterfowl Hunt on 11/10/06 - 11/11/06, a Guided Blast and Cast (duck hunt and bay fishing trip) on 12/15/06 - 12/16/06, and a "Bring in the New Year" Rifle Range Shoot on 12/30/06.

No one has expressed interest in the Day Lease Deer Hunt or the Guided Blast and Cast (duck hunt and bay fishing trip).  If we don't get at least two hunters for both events we'll cancel them.  We also might add the Hart Lion's Club Annual Pheasant Hunt and a Dove Hunt (south zone) with Texas Wild if we can get at least two hunters for both events.  For more information on these or other events, contact Mark_Dillow.

We didn't have nearly as many new members join the Club at this year's Dove Retreat (in San Angelo) as we have had in previous years (in Dilley).  We moved the Retreat from Dilley to San Angelo because Mr. Ewald doubled his price and we did not anticipate a good turn out in Dilley.  Unfortunately we did not have a great turnout in San Angelo.  Many members’ memberships have since expired.  If your membership has expired, please consider renewing your membership soon.  We have financial obligations to meet (such as paying for Web hosting) and can only do so with new member’s dues and existing members' membership renewals.

We have four commitments for our 11/10/06  - 11/11/06 Guided Waterfowl Hunt.  If you are interested in going get your non-refundable fee in to Mark_Dillow immediately at 113 North Field Dr., Round Rock, TX, 78681.  We can only add two more hunters to this duck hunting group.  We can also add another group of four duck or goose hunters.  Also let Mark know if you are interested in a Day Lease Deer Hunt, a Guided Blast and Cast (duck hunt and bay fishing trip), a Hart Lion's Club Annual Pheasant Hunt, and a Dove Hunt (south zone) with Texas Wild.

We still need a teacher for our FCS Bible Life Class at Great Hills Baptist Church.  Please continue to pray with me that the Lord will raise one up.

No one has responded to our plea for an active Club member to take over the job of Club Webmaster.  If you are interested in this position please contact me.

We will have our annual donations drive for Operation Orphans.  Contact Mark_Dillow for more information.

We need to start planning our 2007 Club Calendar soon.  Please share your ideas with Mark_Dillow.

I hope to see you at an FCS event soon.

Following His trail,
