My wife, Chris, had successful double mastectomy surgery today. When I left her tonight, at 11:30 PM, she was in good spirits and was greatly relieved to have this trial behind her. Please continue to pray for her as she recovers. I'm not as convinced that the trial is over. During these past three months I have been surprised to find myself sinking far deeper into despair than I thought myself capable of. Please pray that I will not allow myself to succumb to it. We appreciate all of your prayers and the many expressions of concern.
Good news: the new “What you’re hunting for” FCS caps are in. Better news: they are now an optional part of FCS membership benefits (as per Executive Decision). With your FCS membership due or membership renewal due, you will receive either your choice of the new cap and patch, or the “logo” khaki T-shirt, or the “bass” T-shirt. The only additional cost to you is $1.00 for postage (for a cap) or $3.00 postage (for a shirt). Only one “What you’re hunting for” cap is left (24 more are about to be ordered). Only one “logo” khaki T-shirt is left in X-large. Only two "bass" T-shirts are left in X-large and only two are left in 2X-Large. Extra “What you’re hunting for” caps, “logo” khaki T-shirts, and “bass” T-shirts are available at $5.00 each. No new shirts will be ordered prior to 12/03, at the earliest.
More good news: the “logo” camo T-shirt has been reduced to $7.50 – (was $10.00). Only four of these shirts are left in X-Large. The “logo” cap has been reduced to $7.50 (was $9.00). The cap comes with an extra patch. Only one is left. The “logo” patches have been reduced to $1.50 (they were $3.00). Dove Retreat caps are still available at $5.00 each (only three left).
A few things were left behind at the 2003 Fall Dove Retreat. Check out the Lost and Found page if you're missing something.
A new page "For active members only" has been added. Check it out. Several video tapes have been purchased and are available for active members to check out on the Library page.
I proposed to accept the Fiscal year 2003 Budget on 9/29/03. Active members have through 10/8/03 to either vote for or against this budget. The best way for an active member to register his vote is to e-mail me. I, and Ken Hamilton, made the following proposal on 9/29/03: The Fellowship of Christian Sportsmen Club should allow and encourage a members wife and female relatives to become members of the Club. The name of the Club shall remain The Fellowship of Christian Sportsmen Club. This would require changing the Bylaws (Section III. Membership: Sub-section A.) from “Members shall consist of those men who have” to “Members shall consist of those men (and each man’s wife and female relatives) who have”. This only allows a man's wife and female relatives to join, as opposed to women as a whole. I made this proposal because during the past two years I have had several requests from members to allow their wife or daughter to join. Active members again have through 10/8/03 to either vote for or against this proposal. Again, the best way for an active member to register his vote is to e-mail me.
Our next election will be held during the 10/9/03 Club Meeting. To date no one has expressed interest in running for office against the current officers. We will also discuss a December 2003 proposed pheasant hunt and proposed events for 2004 at this meeting. Our next Sporting Clays Shoot is scheduled for 10/11/03. We still need one more angler for our 10/24/03 - 10/25/03 Deep Sea Fishing Trip. We have only five confirmed duck hunters for the 2003 Annual Duck Hunt. E-mail me or call me at 512-963-0003 if you are interested in either or both of these events.
Brian McMullen is still working on forming an FCS Dallas area chapter and Dennis Koch is still working on setting up a Rifle Range Shoot at the Austin Rifle Club. Be thinking about events for 2004. I will present a Proposed 2004 calendar at the 12/4/03 Club Meeting. I covet your ideas.
I hope to see you soon.
Serving Him and you,
Randy Rowley
