Five officers, 15 members, three guests, and two sons (25 total participants) had a great time at the 11/9/06 Sportsmen's Banquet at Great Hills Baptist Church. The event was put on by Great Hill's Men's Ministry.
Derrich Pollock and crew made an excellent shrimp boil (with large shrimp, sausage, corn-on-the-cob, and potatoes) that was well received.
FCS had our own promotional table featuring pictures, brochures, and head mounts provided by Randy Rowley and Eddy Chance.
Paige Patterson a big game hunter and minister gave a very inspiring presentation about African big game hunting. After lamenting that PETA had not shown up he told how a recently shot hippo had fed 1000 villagers that had not had meat for over 8 months. The game that is shot is used to feed the local folks, not just to provide decorations for someone's trophy wall. We were enthralled with stories on how God had designed the animals with the means to protect themselves from each other.
Had you been there you would have learned that the most deadly critter in the jungle is not the lion, crocodile, or man but is very small, difficult to shoot, and even harder to mount (the mosquito). You would have learned that Zebra meat is good and you should not shoot elephants when they are in a herd. Other interesting and enlightening stories mesmerized the rather larger crowed for about an hour. There were 19 professions of faith in Jesus Christ.
This was our highest attended FCS function to date this year. Thanks guys for wearing your shirts and promoting the club.
