12/11/04 Sporting Clays Shoot

Ten participants (nine shooters) had a great time at the 12/11/04 Sporting Clays Shoot at the Capitol City Skeet & Trap Range.  It was a bright sunny day and the temperature was perfect.  We shot six stations.  Capitol City once again laid out a challenging (perhaps too challenging) course.  Guest Bret Mercer smoked us with 27 for 50.  He started out with 6 of his 8 and never looked back.  He went 16 for his first 24 but slowed down a bit going 11 for his last 26.  Ron Denison came in second with 20/50.  Ron went 12 for his first 24 and also slowed down going 8 for his last 26.  I, Randy Rowley, came in third with 19/50.  I started out ice cold going 7 for my first 24 but warmed up going 12 for my last 26.  Guest David Drell was next with 18/50.  He was consistent throughout the day going 8 for his first 24 and 10 for his last 26.  Mark Dillow was next with 15/50.  He started well with 9 for his first 24 but cooled off going 6 for his last 26.  My wife, Chris, was next with 11/50.  She did the best out of my group on the first target and was consistent throughout going 5 for her first 24 and 6 for her last 26.  David's son Tim was next with 10/50.  He started with 6 for 24 but cooled down a little going 4 for his last 26.  Ken Miller was next with 8/50.  Ken was consistent going 4 for his first 24 and 4 for his last 26.  Derrich Pollock joined us on station five and went 8/18.  I am confident that if he had shot all 50 targets he would have at least challenged Ron and me.  The new Capitol City General Manager, Eddie Dwyer, gave us our round of Sporting Clays at the Capitol City members price.  Check out the Sporting Clay and Five Stand Shoots Scorecard for history, finishes, and averages.
