The largest gathering of FCS in a good while occurred on Friday afternoon, 2/23/07, to honor our fallen Brother Derrich Pollock who was taken Monday afternoon, 2/19/07, to be with Dad as he lovingly referred God.
There were 44 members present as honorary pallbearers at Great Hills Baptist Church Friday afternoon. I believe there were over 1000 more friends and family there to honor and celebrate Derrich's life.
Pastor Michael Lewis presented a meaningful message based on Isaiah 40, laced with stories about Derrich and his family. Many of Derrich’s friends and brothers had stories and testimonies of the love and generosity of this fine man who was a great friend to many and a close brother in Christ to us all. Derrich truly lived his life as we all should, he was a fine example of what we should be.
As a tribute to his memory we should, as Brother Lewis suggested, re-commit to God, family and friends to lead a life as Christ would have us live with love for each other.
Derrich lived life to its fullest. A competitive spirit drove him quickly everywhere he went. A keen sense of humor, a quirky grin a twinkle in his eye and a generous heart marked the trail as he merrily went his way.
His legacy will live on with the memories and stories we all have and will be retold in the bass boats, deer blinds and around the campfires of future outings. Great men always live on in the hearts and minds of those they inspired.
Farewell dear brother, check out the best spots, we will see you in Glory soon.
