Eleven participants (eight shooters) had a real challenge at the 3/9/02 Quarterly Sporting Clays Shoot at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Range. Capitol City has significantly improved their course. First of all they cleared away some brush. Secondly they added several automatic throwers to the course. The throwers often sent birds in to the shooter from different directions. One station in particular (a on-report station) saw only one target hit in 32 shots. John Partridge, in his first ever Sporting Clays Shoot, took home the First Place Trophy with 27/50. Tim Price took home the Second Place Trophy with 26/50 (he normally averages 34/50). Larry Dowden took home the Third Place Trophy with 24/50 (he normally averages 28/50). Randy Rowley and Ron Denison tied for fourth with 19/50 (Randy normally averages 28/50; Ron normally averages 21/50). Ryan Rowley was next with 17/50 (his second best ever and two above his average of 15/50). He was followed by Jesse Price with 12/50 (he normally averages 19/50). He was followed by Dennis Koch with 7/50 (he normally averages 21/50). With the exception of Ryan and John (who had no prior average) everyone shot below their average.
