One officer, four members, and two sons (seven total participants) had a disappointing time at the 3/30/07 – 4/1/07 Hog Hunt at the CzC Ranch near Mercury. We saw a total of two pigs (five hunters hunted three hunts and two hunted four hunts) not counting the pig that we found in the pig trap, which Tyler Price dispatched. One went by the trap door stand on Saturday night after dark but wasn't interested in eating the corn or pig slop. He was moving so fast that he didn't give Van time to get his crosshairs on him. We found the other one during a drive. He ran and Van got a couple of shots off but missed it. We learned after we got to the ranch that the neighbor of the owner (Wade Cottrell) had been trapping pigs and removing them from the ranch. Due to the absence of hogs and his neighbor's trapping of the ones that are left this was probably our last hog hunt at the CzC Ranch.
