4/14/07 Sporting Clays Shoot

One officer and one member (2 total participants) had a great time at the 4/14/07 Sporting Clays Shoot at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Range.  It was a beautiful, sunny morning, but it was very windy (around 25 MPH winds) which made shooting challenging.

We shot the corporate (hunter) course.  I, Randy Rowley, came in first place with 35/50.  Ken Miller came in second place with 18/50.  I started out very hot, breaking 19 out of the first 20 targets.  I then went a miserable 2 out of the next 12 but finished strong with 14 out of the last 18 targets.  Ken also started out strong hitting 8 for his first 16 targets.  He then went 2 for his next 16 targets but finished strong breaking 8 out of his last 18 targets.  Station 1 was our easiest station.  It had a flat left to right bird followed by a falling right to left bird.  I went 8/8 on it.  We shot a total of 13/16.  Station 2 was our third easiest.  I had a high incomer from the left followed by a outgoing bird to the right that curved to the left.  We went 10/16 on it.  Station 3 was our second hardest.  It had a high right to left target that was falling followed by a fast, flat, left to right bird.  We went 5/16 on it.  Station 4 was our hardest station.  It had a close, fast, right to left bird that was falling fast.  You had to get it quickly are it would be in the bushes.  We only hit it twice.  It was followed by a high, slow left to right bird that we couldn't figure out why we were missing.  I managed to hit it once.  We shot a miserable 3/16 on this station.  Station 5 was our fourth easiest.  It had a very low incomer from the right.  When they broke we were almost hit by the pieces.  It was followed by a high teal that gave us trouble.  We went 10/20 on this station.  Station 6 was our second easiest.  It had a very slow left to right bird that was fairly high.  It was followed by a outgoing flat, fast bird from the left.  We went 12/16 on this station.  The combined group went 53/100 (.530).  At our 3/17/07 shoot the combined group went 295/850 (.347).
