4/4/07

The January - March quarter of 2007 was a bittersweet one for FCS.  On one hand our beloved Vice President (Ministries) Derrich Pollock went to be with the Lord.  On the other hand we had the best attendance yet for this quarter with 117 participants.  However, if Derrich’s Celebration Service had not happened we would have had only 73 participants, which would have tied for eighth place.  We blew away what was our average for this quarter (58).  We would have done better this quarter if we had not cancelled a sporting clays shoot and a hog hunt.  We had 10 events for this quarter, which tied last year’s record.  In addition we had 12 men join the Club during this quarter (one at Derrich’s service and two more because of Derrich’s service) and 20 men renewed their memberships (nine at Derrich’s service).

We had eight officer votes, three active member votes, and one poll during the first quarter of 2007.

The next quarter promises to be an exciting one for FCS members and guests.  We have 12 events planned.  We had a hog hunt on 3/30/07 – 4/1/07.  We’ll have another one on a date to be announced and one on 6/1/07 – 6/3/07, Club Meetings on 4/5/07 and 6/7/07, sporting clays and skeet shoots on 4/14/07, 5/19/07 (the FCS Classic), and 6/16/07, the Llano Crawfish Open on 4/7/07, the Annual 24 Hour Sporting Clays Shoot on 5/4/07 – 5/5/07, the Ducks Unlimited Sporting Clays Shoot on 6/16/07, and a Hybrid Bass Fishing Trip on 4/20/07.

The FCS - Great Hills Baptist Church (GHBC) Bible Life (Sunday School) Class began on Sunday, 2/4/07.  We meet from 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM in room A125.  I teach the men, and my wife, Chris, teaches the ladies.  The men are studying "Wild at Heart" and the "Wild at Heart Field Manual," both by John Eldridge.  The ladies are studying of "Captivating" and the "Captivating Guidebook," both by Stasi Eldridge.  We have 10 department members and average around eight.  Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to attend the department.

We will purchase 48 more T-shirts soon for membership benefits and for sale to active members only.  We’ll also order button down shirts.  Send your checks to me at 11612 Birchbark Trail, Austin, TX, 78750.  Make them out to me (Randy Rowley) as I might have to buy the shirts at Academy (and pay for them with one check) and then pay for the screen printing with another check.  We'll get either a sage green or a khaki color and the logos will either be dark red or brown.  Also be sure to let me know what size that you need.  These shirts cannot be substituted for a T-shirt for new or renewing members (they are not a membership benefit).  According to our bylaws, you must be an active FCS member in order to purchase FCS apparel.  If you are not a member or are an inactive member, send a separate check for $20.00 (made out to FCS) along with your check for your shirt (if you are applying to be a new member send a completed application as well).  I will not be able to accept any IOU's for these shirts.  The deadline to get your money to me is 4/8/07.

I delivered a $1735.00 love gift to Julie Pollock (donations from FCS members).  Club members came through like never before.  I am overwhelmed by your generosity.  This makes me even prouder to be an FCS member.

I hope to see you at an FCS event soon.

Following His trail,

Randy Rowley

FCS President
