Three officers, eight members, three guests, and one youth son (15 total participants) had a great time at the Annual FCS Classic Clay Target Shoot on 5/19/07. This time the Classic was held at Upland Bird Hunting Inc. We divided into three groups and shot Five Stand, Skeet, and Wobble Trap. We shot each game for approximately and hour and then rotated to the next game.
For Five Stand all seven traps were working. We shot the pairs for the first 25 as report pairs and shot them for the second 25 as true pairs. Trap one was an outgoing wobble trap that threw a target a different trajectory each time. Trap two was an incoming mini that curved slightly to the right. It was very hard to pick up. Trap three was a high left to right bird that traveled for several yards on its side (it curved more away from the shooter than it did at the 4/28/07 shoot). Trap four was a far away left to right bird that also traveled on its side and fell fast. Trap five was a curving incoming midi target. Trap six was a high left to right bird that required a good lead. Trap seven was a right to left bird that angled away and also required a good lead. Paul Ellis came in first place with 38/50 (he shot 20/25 on the true pair, which were considerably harder than the report pairs). Joe Schram came in second place with 36/50. Warren Hoke came in third place with 35/50. He was followed by Tim Price with 31/50, Edward Terry and Isaac Price with 29/50 (Isaac also shot better, 16/50, on the true pairs), me (Randy Rowley) with 26/50, Larry Dowden with 25/50, Ryan Rowley with 23/50, Mark Dillow and Ken Miller with 20/50 (Ken also shot better, 11/25, on the true pairs), and Harold Terry and Chris Rowley with 16/50.
Wobble Trap was again a blast! The trap rotates from side to side and up and down. Most of the time when you press the button it throws the bird in a different presentation. One bird may be high to the left and the next one may be low and to the right. We were able to do a "Flush" variant. Two shooters stand ready, both with two shells in their guns. The thrower starts to throw birds (without anyone saying "pull") by keeping his finger on the button. The first shooter shoots and two shells and then immediately starts to reload, while the second shooter shoots his two targets and then reloads. The targets are launching every 1.5 seconds so you've got to reload fast! The team of Joe Schram and Mark Dillow came in first place with 39/50 (Joe shot 23/25 and Mark shot 16/25), Tim and Isaac Price came in second place with 37/50 (Tim shot 20/25 and Isaac shot 17/25), and I and Ryan came in third place with 36/50 (I shot 22/25 and Ryan shot 14/25). We were followed by Edward and Harold Terry with 35/50 (Edward shot 19/25 and Harold shot 16/25) and Edward Terry and Paul Ellis with 35/50 (Edward shot 18/25 and Paul shot 17/25). Warren Hoke shot 17/25 by himself.
The group shot between six and nine boxes each.

Joe and Lisa Schram provided a wonderful meal of Lasagna, salad, bread, cake, and tea. I led a devotional on being like Caleb.
