As noted in the Prayer Requests and Praises page I have interviewed for the Quality Assurance Director position at Brenham State School (BSS).  I will go there for a second interview on 6/23/03.  The list of candidates has been whittled down to four.  Of course, if I am selected, my family and I would move to the Brenham area.  If this occurs there will be little changes for the Club.  As you know we are conducting the vast majority of our votes now via e-mail/mail so that all of our members have the opportunity to vote.  This system can be implemented as easily in Brenham as it is in Austin.  I would still drive in for the Club meetings.  You would still see me at the Dove Hunt, Dove Retreats, Duck/Goose Hunt, Hog/Sheep Hunt, and Sporting Clays Shoots, as you always do.  The only thing that I foresee that we would have to change is the location of our bank.  We have banked at my former Credit Union, Greater Texas Federal Credit Union (GTFCU), for the past 10+ years.  As Ron, our Treasurer, works no where near GTFCU he gives me the checks and cash that we receive (membership dues and apparel paraphernalia purchases) and I deposit them.  We would have to change our account over to Ron's bank, which we probably should do anyway.  My reasons for applying are as follows:

  1. The position pays 6K - 9K more a year than I am making now.  The cost of living in Brenham is also substantially lower than Austin.  Chris would only have to work part time or possibly not at all.
  2. Chris could continue her Seminary education at Southwestern Seminary's branch in Houston which is 73 miles from Brenham (we would not have to move to Ft. Worth, which we considering doing).
  3. Deanna would be attending a middle school in a much smaller community, which means that she would probably be more successful than she would be in the Round Rock schools.
  4. A much smaller community means generally a much more conservative community, which appeals to me.  I have also always dreamed about living in the country.
  5. No more Austin traffic!
  6. BSS would pay for our move.

On the cons side, Robin has been elected Vice President of the Westwood choir, an organization that she cherishes.  It would devastate her if we moved her during her senior year.  However, we have had offers for her to move in with other people and continue at Westwood.  Please pray for the Lord to give us wisdom and for His will to be done.

I proposed the following changes to the Bylaws on 3/27/03.  They were approved on 5/21/03.

Section VI. Amendment proposals to the bylaws or statement of faith):

From:

B. Amendment proposals can be in written or oral form and can be made during the "New Business" section of any general meeting.  A member who wishes to make a proposal but will be unable to attend the next scheduled general meeting of his chapter can mail the proposal to the President.  The President or his designee will read the absent member's amendment proposal at the next scheduled general meeting of his chapter during the "New Business" section.

B.  Amendment proposals can be in written or oral form and can be made during the "New Business" section of any Club meeting.  Members who will not be able to attend the next scheduled Club meeting can e-mail, mail, or phone their proposal(s) to the President.  The President or his designee will read the absent members amendment proposal(s) at the next scheduled Club meeting during the "New Business" section.

This changed the term "general" to "Club."  It also now gives members the freedom to e-mail or phone their amendment proposal(s) in to the President rather than just mail them in.

Our newest member, Brian McMullen is still working on forming a FCS Dallas area chapter.  Dennis Koch is still working on setting up a Rifle Range Shoot at the Austin Rifle Club, possibly in October, and Kevin Wall is still working on putting together a Pheasant Hunt, possibly in December.  No one has shown interest in having the 2003 Deep Sea Fishing Trip in June, so we'll shoot for October.

At the 6/5/03 Club Meeting I proposed to create a new cap for the Club.  We have had the same cap design since 4/6/95.  Several members at the meeting expressed interest in purchasing a new cap.  I will conduct an e-mail survey to see how many other members are interested.  If we decide that there is sufficient interest, Derrich Pollock will head this project up.

I hope to see you soon.

Serving you and Him,

Randy Rowley
