Our next FCS Sporting Clays and Skeet Shoot will be held on Saturday, 7/19/08 (9:00 - 11:45 AM) at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Range (8707 Lindell Lane, 512-272-4707).
Schedule:
09:00 AM - Sporting Clays
09:30 AM - Scores and devotional
11:15 AM - Skeet (for those who want to shoot skeet; those who don't can depart)
11:45 AM - Depart
The cost is $25.00/person for a round of 50 sporting clays and $10.00/person for a round of 25 skeet. This is a great event to take your family to. Capitol City requires eye and ear protection (available free of charge at Capitol City). They sell shotgun shells if you need them (but you can get them much cheaper at Academy and Wal-Mart). You'll need to bring three boxes of shotshells if you're going to shoot both skeet and sporting clays. I recommend Remington Heavy Dove (Shurshot) 12 gauge loads which are available at Academy. Each shell contains 1 1/8 ounces of shot and has a velocity of 1255 FPS. It is a great dove/quail load in addition to being a good clay target load. I recommend either 7 1/2 or 8 shot. If you're a dove/quail hunter, I recommend that you shoot sporting clays with the exact same load that you use to hunt dove. This enables you to develop consistent leads for similar targets. If you don't have a shotgun there are many of us who will share our shotguns with you.
