Our next CHL Class will be on Saturday 5/31/08 from 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM at the Eagle Peak Shooting Range (20300 Lindeman Lane - off FM 1431, 512-267-1400) providing that we can get six commitments. The class will cost $110.00. Lunch is included in the price. Participants will need to bring at least 50 rounds for their handgun in order to complete the qualification part of the class. Participants may also bring extra ammo to practice with during lunch. Qualification will be on 3, 7, and 15 yard targets. The class will consist of FCS members and guests. Eagle Peak does not take credit cards (cash and checks only).
Other expenses include a lifetime range card (if you don't have one) - the cost is $10.00. You'll also need a passport quality photo for your license. Eagle Peak will do it for you for $10.00 or you can get it done at HEB, Kinko's, Walgreen's, etc. for about $3.00 cheaper. You do not have to apply for your license right after taking the class. You can apply as your budget allows.
The class is one of several requirements in order to get a CHL. One thing to stress is if you qualify with a semiauto you will be able to carry any legal handgun but if you qualify with a revolver you will be able to carry only a revolver or derringer (you won't be able to carry a semiauto).

As men, and particularly as Christian men, we have a responsibility to protect our household, including when we are away from home. A CHL license will enable us to legally do so with a handgun.
