Several FCS members and I have the Dove/Shooting fanny packs that attach around the shooters waist. These packs do not get as hot as traditional dove vests. The problem with them is when they are filled with a couple boxes of shells and several dove they start to slide down from the weight. The shooter then has to stop every couple of minutes and pull his fanny pack back up and retighten the strap. Bass Pro Shops sells a Redhead Strap Vest that solves this problem. In addition to the waist/chest strap it has shoulder straps, thus your shoulders support the weight of the shells and game. They are available in two patterns of camo and sell for $19.95. The Upland Strap Vest is brown with blaze orange pockets. It sells for $34.95. I bought a camo one and highly recommend them. The only problem that I have had with it is the snap buttons on the pockets have both torn off. I recently bought a heavy duty version at Sportsmen's Warehouse. It has a mesh back and front pockets. Instead of buttons on the pockets it has big plastic clips. The shoulder straps are padded. It appears that this vest will hold up better than the Redhead version. It sells for $29.95.
