The following e-mail was received on 1/7/01. It was addressed to Eddy Chance and Randy Rowley. It is presented to the Club to explain Larry’s reasons for resigning as Club Treasurer.
Gentlemen,
As you guys know our club just hasn't had much of a growth spurt over the past few years. I believe that most people are just too busy to really participate or have just lost interest. This really saddens me because I really believed in the mission of FCS, and what we were trying to achieve. Outdoor activities with such a good group of Christian people are hard to find.
I am also disappointed that we have not had the younger generation move into the ranks. We have been involved with FCS since our mid to late 20's. Most of us are now into the 40's and would like to see the younger generation get involved and help grow the FCS. To be honest, I just don't think that is going to happen.
With all that said, I too am way too busy now. I also have lost interest in trying to drag participation out of some of our old members and most new people we meet are already over committed. I believe they want to be involved, but just don't have the time. I am therefore resigning my position as treasurer of FCS effectively immediately. I will turn over the checkbook and records to whomever you guys select and will be available to assist them in any way necessary for a smooth transition.
I most sincerely appreciate the opportunity that FCS has offered me over the
past 10+ years. The friendships that have formed have been a great blessing to
me and my family. You guys are great and have poured your busy lives into a
fine organization. God bless you both and I look forward to participating when
possible.
Larry Dowden
