Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) has a chapter in Cedar Park that donates venison and pork to needy families in Cedar Park and Leander through Hill Country Community Ministries. All you need to do is take the field dressed deer or hog that you wish to donate to Cedar Park Meat Market and tell them that it is for Texas Hunters and Hunters Feeding the Hungry. There is no cost to you. Contact Clint Bennett, FHFH State Coordinator, at 979-966-0796 (Home) or 512-740-8155 (Mobile) for more information. Cedar Park Meat Market is only open on Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. They have extended hours during deer hunting season.

The Hunters for the Hungry program is sponsored by state agencies, state associations, and others. Many deer processing plants participate in this program. Simply bring your field dressed deer to a participating processing plant, tell the clerk that the animal is for the Hunters for the Hungry program and pay the approximate $20.00 processing fee. The meat will be given to low income people. Participating processing plants in the Austin area include: Johnny G's Butcher Block, Texas Beef and Sausage, and Hudson's Meat Market. For more information e-mail them or call them at 1-800-992-9767 ext. 506. They do not take hogs unless an inspector inspects it before and after you shoot it!

The Pacto con Dios (A Pact with the Trinity) Ministry is based out of San Marcos. Joe and Melissa Lee distribute any edible meat, as long as it is field dressed and in good condition, to those that are unable to feed themselves along with sharing the gospel of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There is no cost for donations but they are appreciated. The meat needs to be delivered to San Marcos. If you have a substantial amount they will pick it up. They have a trailer with cold storage on it that can handle up to 50 deer. Birds are also accepted as long as they have been cleaned. They were officially formed in 2003 and have been doing meat ministry since 2001. In the past four years they have processed and delivered over 100,000 pounds of meat at no charge to orphans, widows, disabled people, and drug addicts with a desire to recover. Their distribution has grown to seven different orphanages, two Christ centered drug rehab centers, several street missions, and one warehouse for Christian missionaries who collect needed supplies to serve 250 different missions. They have led seven crusades for Jesus in Mexico where they served over 15,000 tacos. They are in the process of building a new meat processing facility in San Marcos that will be able to handle the meat more efficiently. Joe and Melissa can be reached at 512-805-7544 (Home) and 512-738-6924 (Cell).
