Our God Reigns by Byron Case III

Scripture Reading: Psalm 96

In September of 1992 I gave my life to the Lord Jesus Christ.  That was the best decision I have ever made.  However, I had been hunting deer for eleven years and had never harvested a buck.  Nevertheless, that all changed in November of 1992. 

A relative with whom I was hunting had two doe permits and I had none.  While we were walking to our spots in the woods, I asked him, "If I see a due, can I shoot it?"  He said, "No."  I got mad and said to myself, "I'll shoot one anyway!"

When the sun came up I heard some noise in the brush and out stepped a big doe just twenty yards away.  I pulled up on her with my shotgun and looked through the scope.  She was gone - I mean I could not see her.  When I lowered my gun, she was still standing right there.

I did this three times and the same thing happened each time.  On the fourth try, she saw me and took off.  I got so mad I said. "I'm gong to quit hunting and sell my gun!"

I got down out of the tree and headed up the hill on a logging road to where my relative was.  Then, out of the blue an eight-point buck appeared right in front of me.  I put the scope behind his front shoulder and there he was.  I pulled the trigger and down he went.

God taught me some valuable lessons that day.  I should not have gotten angry at my relative; the permits were his and not mine.  God also showed me that He is the one who is in con1rol and not me and I praise the Lord that He is.
