Results of the 1997 Evaluation
- 88% of respondents felt that FCS
meetings are held at the right frequency. 6% felt that they are held too
frequently and 6% felt that they are not held frequently enough.
- 94% of respondents felt that the length
of FCS meetings is appropriate. 6% felt that they are too long.
- 100% of respondents felt that the length
of the fellowship time is appropriate.
- 56% of respondents felt that the length
of time for videos or educational training is appropriate. 38% felt that it
is too long and 6% felt that it is too short.
- 75% of respondents felt that the length
of time for Club business is appropriate. 25% felt that it is too long.
- 87% of respondents felt that the FCS
meetings have the right amount of structure. 6.5% felt that they are too
structured and 6.5% felt that they are not structured enough.
- 100% of respondents felt that Thursdays
are still the best days to have meetings.
- Respondents felt that FCS meetings could
be improved by: bi-monthly breakfast/dinner, periodic guest Christian
speakers, more participation, more chili cooking, and better places to hunt.
- 62% of respondents felt that the
frequency of FCS outings is appropriate. 19% felt that they are too frequent
and 19% felt that they are not frequent enough.
- 88% of respondents felt the cost of the
average FCS outing is appropriate. 12% felt that we are too obsessed with
“cheap.”
- No one responded to the question “I feel
that the following outings were too long.”
- One respondent felt that the Dove Hunts
are too short.
- Respondents felt that outings could be
improved by: more attendance and 1-2 week pre-outing prayers for the Lord’s
direction and will.
- One respondent would like to see duck
and redfish (coastal fishing) outings planned.
- The following outings were rated on a
scale of 1 - 10 (1 - strongly dislike, 10 - strongly like). The averages are
as follows:
Dove Retreats/Hunts - 9.13
Camping Trips - 8.92
Sweethearts Dinners - 8.25
Sporting Clays/Skeet Shoots - 8.07
Hog Hunts - 8.00
Striped Bass Fishing Trips - 7.54
Rifle Range Shoots - 7.46
Deep Sea Fishing Trips - 6.75
Archery Shoots - 6.69
Catfish Fishing Trips - 6.55
Rabbit Hunts - 6.08
Canoe Trips - 6.00
Laser Tag - 5.00
President’s note: unfortunately, the averages of the ratings are not very
accurate. A perfect example of the problem is the archery shoots. Only three
men (David Chalmers, Jesse Price, and me, Randy Rowley) have ever participated
in an FCS Archery Shoot. However, 13 men rated it. I will be phrasing this
question next time to read “Rate on a scale of 1 - 10 the following outings that
you participated in (if you didn’t participate in an outing,
please don’t rate it). This should give us much more accurate results.
- 93% of respondents felt that there is
still a need for service projects within the Club. 7% felt that they are no
longer needed.
- 100% of respondents were in agreement on
how the officers are spending the FCS dues.
- No one responded to the question “I feel
that FCS dues would be better spent on…”
- 86% of respondents felt that the yearly
due should continue. 14% did not.
- 87% of respondents felt that “Hunting
His Way’s” length is appropriate. 13% felt that it is too long.
- 100% of respondents felt that the
frequency of “Hunting His Way” is appropriate.
- Respondents would like to see more of
the following in “Hunting His Way”: personal stories, devotions, more
articles, frequent flyer hunting/fishing trips, and pictures of me.
- No one responded to the question “I
would like to see less of the following in “Hunting His Way.”
- One respondent felt that “Hunting His
Way” could be improved by more fund raisers.
- The following sections of “Hunting His
Way” were read on a regular basis or have been read in past issues:
Cartoons - 100%
Upcoming Events - 92%
Articles - 92%
Past Events - 85%
Classifieds - 62%
New Members - 54%
Guests - 54%
Miscellaneous - 54%
Previous Meetings Minutes - 46%
Letters to the Editor - 46%
Recipes - 46%
- Respondents would refer a
friend/associate to FCS for the following reasons: good Christian male
fellowship, fun stories, share time, make new friends, and opportunities to
hunt.
- Respondents would leave FCS for the
following reasons: not enough time, no longer serves it’s purpose, cost of
outings, and lack of Jesus being #1 in all events.
President’s Analysis: The vast majority of respondents indicated that things
are going pretty well for The Fellowship of Christian Sportsmen. We might need
to take a look at the length of time for video’s (more than 1/3 felt they are
too long) and the length of time for Club business (1/4 felt that it is too
long). A fairly high percentage (19%) felt that FCS outings are too frequent,
but 19% also felt that they are not frequently enough (basically a wash).
Everything else was 87% or higher (an overwhelming majority). The theme of the
responses was positive and there were no negative comments. I would like to
thank the 18 men who took the time to answer the questionnaire. Another thing
that I learned is that most respondents didn’t like the “essay” style
questions. Look for much fewer of them in the next survey!
