Decoyed by Randy Rowley, 1/9/08 ©

We keep from being decoyed by making Jesus Lord of our lives.  Peter wrote in 1 Peter 3:15a, “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.”  When Christ is piloting us it’s impossible to be decoyed.

We keep from being decoyed by throwing off everything that hinders us from following Him.  The author of Hebrews in 12:1-2 wrote, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

We keep from being decoyed by being living sacrifices and by being transformed by the renewing our minds.  Paul told the Romans in 12:1-2, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
