Our Purpose

FCS In Action (what we do)

We carry out quality and affordable family events year round throughout the state including, but not limited to:

We have carried out many other outings, including:

We have 70 events scheduled for 2008.  We add new events each year.  Evening events last around 2 ˝ hours and hunting and fishing trips last from one to three days.

We attempt to balance “expensive” verses “cheap” events.  We have found from many years of experience that “cheap” outings usually result in poor harvests and in frustrated participants who will not return.  We prefer to pay a standard land owner/outfitter/guide rate to have a better chance of success.  Additional expenses often include tips, game cleaning fees (for those who wish to have their game cleaned), motel rooms, gas, and food.  At many events we are able to cut expenses by car pooling, sharing motel rooms, camping, and cooking out.

At Dove Retreats and Hunts, a first time guest is commonly paired with the member who brought him or her, or a member who knows him or her, or one of the Club officers so he or she will have a better opportunity to learn about the Club and our field rules.  Minors are required to hunt, shoot, or fish with the man or woman who they are related to or with their sponsor.  FCS members are more than happy to teach newcomers.  We are patient and enjoy sharing what we know.  People of all skill levels attend FCS events – from veterans to first timers.

We have a FCS Bible Life Department that meets every Sunday at 11:00 AM at Great Hills Baptist Church (10500 Jollyville Road, room A125).  For more information contact me, Randy Rowley.

We have Bible studies/devotionals and prayer time at Sporting Clays and Skeet Shoots, FCS meetings, and Dove Retreats.  We have prayer at several other FCS outings.  We have carried out numerous Ministry Projects including making donations to Operation Orphans and Cross Trail Outfitters, roofing a house, helping families move into their new houses, purchasing and installing a water heater for a family in need, and donating and delivering wild game to families in need.

We maintain an extensive website.  Our quarterly newsletter - "Hunting His Way" incorporates some of the information on this Website (Through the Crosshairs - President's Column and Prayer Requests and Praises) but does not include any information that is not on this Website.  If you would like an issue (the current edition is Winter 2008) let me, Randy Rowley, know and I will e-mail or mail (upon request) you the latest edition or a past edition(s).

We financially support the NRA.

We send out regular e-mails on FCS news and sportsmen’s topics.  I, Randy Rowley, will be happy to add you to my distribution list.  There is no charge for this service and you can unsubscribe at any time.

We invite articles, recipes, classifieds, letters, devotionals, cartoons, photos, and other material from FCS members and guests (only) but reserve the right to edit and refuse to post the material.  We can only use original submissions unless the author's work is not copyrighted.  No material on the Website or a newsletter may be reproduced in print or electronically without my written permission.
