The Clay Target Shoot Scorecard shows the results from every Clay Target Shoot in the history of the Club, sporting clays/five stand shoot averages, and 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place finishes! The averages are figured on a round of 50 sporting clays or five stand targets basis. Consequently, the 8/17/02 Skeet Shoot is not included in each shooters average as only 25 targets were shot and skeet averages cannot be included with sporting clays averages as skeet's an easier game. Unfortunately scorecards were not turned in to me, Randy Rowley, after every shoot or I only recorded the scores on those who placed. In the early shoots I often only noted the first place or top three finishers. However, all but two of the shoots since 6/20/98 show every competitor.
If you just look at the averages they do not tell the whole story. For example John Carpenter's (39.00), Hunter Phillips' (36.00), Mike Vincius' (36.00), Jim McGee's (34.50), Paul Ellis' (33.50), Beau Harger's (33.00), Warren Hoke's (32.78), and Perry Barrow's (32.67) averages are ahead of Tim Price's (32.31). However John, Hunter, Mike, and Beau have shot only once (where scores were kept), Jim has shot only twice, Perry has shot only three times, Paul has shot only eight times, and Warren has shot only nine times compared to Tim's 48 times (where scores were kept). Nineteen of Tim's shoots were prior to Capitol City's creation of their easier Corporate or Hunter Course (only one of Jim's, Paul's, and Warren's shoots were on this harder course). With sporting clays, what I pay attention to more than averages is the number of Gold, Silver, and Bronze finishes per shooter - an area where Tim stands head and shoulders above everyone else. Tim has placed 47 times out of the 56 shoots that he has participated in! He has come in first place 30 times, second place 12 times, and third place five times. He had a streak of nine first place finishes in a row! His closest competitor (in the number of finishes), me (Randy Rowley), has only come in first place 17 times, second place 14 times, and third place 11 times (placed 42 times out of 60 shoots). In my opinion Tim is still the man to beat!
However, Kenny Hill, Larry Dowden, Paul Ellis, Warren Hoke, Kenneth Kidd, Richard Corbin, Bret Mercer, and Joe Schram are coming on strong. Out of his seven shoots Kenny has placed every time - including first four times, second twice, and third once. Out of his nine shoots Warren has placed eight times, including first four times, second twice, and third twice. Out of his eight shoots Paul has placed seven times, including first three times, second twice, and third twice. Out of his 15 shoots (where score was kept) Larry has placed 12 times, including first four times, second five times, and third three times. Out of his 19 shoots Kenneth has placed 12 times, including first three times, second eight times, and third three times. Out of his eight shoots Richard has placed six times, including first once, second three times, and third twice. Out of his five shoots Bret has placed three times, including first once, second once, and third once. Out of his 17 shoots Joe has placed 10 times, including first six times, second twice, and third twice.
Capitol City Trap & Skeet Range (where 69 of our 85 shoots have been held) made significant improvements to their sporting clays course after the 12/8/01 shoot, with the addition of automatic throwers. They also made their Sporting Clays course much more challenging. Scores on 3/9/02 and thereafter dropped significantly. For example, I was averaging 29.87 for my 15 shoots at Capitol City prior to 3/9/02 and 28.44 for my 34 shoots on 3/9/02 and thereafter. Therefore, a shooter who started on or after 3/9/02 should be regarded as achieving more than a shooter who only shot before 3/9/02, if their averages are the same. Also on 7/9/05 we began to shoot Capitol City's new corporate (hunter) course. This course is easier than their regular course (what they started to call their masters level course). Therefore, a shooter who has only shot the corporate course should be regarded as achieving less than a shooter who has shot just the masters level course or a combination of the two, if their averages are the same. For example my average on the corporate course is 34.27 (for 15 shoots) and my average for the regular/masters level course is 27.19 (for 37 shoots).
