Votes and Polls (during the fourth quarter of 2005)

On 10/21/05 a ballot survey was conducted.

On 10/22/05, by a vote of 10 to 1, the active Club members approved the following:

Change from:

II. Statement of Purpose (charter):

The purpose of the Club shall be to encourage Christian fellowship through outdoor activities.

To:

II. Statement of Purpose

The Fellowship of Christian Sportsmen (FCS) is a non-denominational, non-political, brotherhood organization, founded in Austin, Texas in 1988 by a group of Christian sportsmen.  FCS is a ministry to the hunting and fishing world.

The purpose of the Club shall be to encourage Christian fellowship through outdoor activities.  We exist to:

  1. share the joy and experience of hunting and fishing with other Christian Sportsmen;
  2. encourage Christian fellowship among men;
  3. challenge men to establish and maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; and
  4. encourage serving the Lord Jesus in the fellowship of the Church.

I eliminated the word "charter" because it is really not a description of "Statement of Purpose" (it means "contract").  All of the above is taken from our main page.  When I formatted our Main Page over four years ago I felt that we needed a better description of us than "The purpose of the Club shall be to encourage Christian fellowship through outdoor activities."  I should have initiated this ballot a long time ago.

On 10/22/05, by a vote of 11 to 0, the active Club members approved the following:

Change III. Membership.

From:

A. Members shall consist of those men (and each man’s wife and adult female relatives) who have:

  1. Expressed a desire to be a member by completing a membership application.
  2. Have paid an annual club membership due.  Current dues are $20.00 a year.

To:

A. FCS membership is available to men, 18 years old and older, (and each man’s wife and female relatives) without regard to race, national origin, age, denominational preference, or political persuasion.

B. Members shall consist of those men (and each man’s wife and adult female relatives) who have:

  1. Expressed a desire to be a member by completing a membership application.
  2. Have paid an annual club membership due.  Current dues are $20.00 a year.

C. There shall be a mandatory non-members fee at all Dove Retreats.  This fee is equal to the amount of the present membership dues.  Non-members will have a choice to either apply this fee as their membership of donate this fee to the Club's Treasury.  Members whose memberships expire on the month in which a Dove Retreat is held will also be required to either renew their memberships or donate this fee to the Club's Treasury.

The new "A" was taken straight from our Adult Application without any modifications.  This required the old "A" to be "re-lettered" as "B."  In addition  "C" was originally approved by the Club members on 4/10/97 and then modified on 2/25/01 and 4/5/01.  We put it into practice at the 9/01 Fall Dove Retreat and it remains unchanged through today.

On 10/22/05, by a vote of 4 to 2, the active Club members approved the dates of the Winter 2006 Fall Dove Retreat as 1/5/06 - 1/7/06.  This was added to the 2006 Calendar.

On 10/26/05, by a vote of 10 to 0, the active Club members approved the following changes to the Bylaws:

Change Section III. Membership, subsection C.

From:

Current membership benefits include:

To:

Current membership benefits include:

Regarding the first change, our hardcopy Membership Directory has always been annual.  This merely made the Bylaw jibe with what we do in practice.  Regarding the second change, this ensured that every time that we buy or are given equipment we don't have to also add it to the Bylaws.

On 11/9/05 a survey was sent out for items to be discussed at the 11/15/05 Officer's Meeting.

On 11/10/05, by a vote of 6 to 0, the active Club members approved adding a 12/26/05 - 12/29/05 Pheasant Hunt to the 2005 Calendar and to remove the 12/16/05 - 12/17/05 Upland Bird Hunt.

On 11/13/05, by a vote of 6 to 0, the active Club members approved the following changes to the Bylaws:
